Hula and Tahitian Classes

Hula
 
Papa Pikake
Ages 7+.  Foundation of the HULA will be emphasized on traditional Hula steps and terminology as well as discipline of body movement and posture. At the completion of this session, students will be eligible to enroll in a Hula class recommended by Auntie Nalua.
 
Papa Pakalana
Must complete Hula Intro

Papa Kane (Men)
Ages 13+.  Must complete hula workshop.

Tahitian

Mikimiki
Tamahine / girls Ages 5-6.  Basic ori steps. 
 
Miri                                                                   
Tamahine / girls Ages 7-9 .  Basic ori steps.  Class focuses on the OTEA accompanied with the toere and pahu drums and APARIMA accompanied with the Tahitian ukulele and guitar which is best suited for this age group.



​Pitate
Tamahine / girls Ages 10-12 .  Must complete tahitian workshop.  Class focues on the OTEA accompanied with the toere and pahu drums and APARIMA accompanied with the Tahitian ukulele and guitar which is best suited for this age group.

​Tiare 1
Ages 13-18.  Must complete tahitian workshop.  Class focuses on the OTEA accompanied with the toere and pahu drums which is best suited for this age group.

​Kahaia
Ages 18+ .  Must complete tahitian workshop.  Class focuses on the OTEA accompanied with the toere and pahu drums and APARIMA accompanied with the Tahitian ukulele and guitar which is best suited for this age group.



 

Aparima
Ages 18+ .  Must complete tahitian workshop.  Class focuses on Traditional and modern "folklore" songs and dances of Tahiti accompanied with the Tahitian ukulele, guitar and drums.

Tipanie
Must be recommended by instructor.  Class focuses on the OTEA accompanied with the toere and pahu drums which is best suited for this age group.

 

 

​Tamaroa (Boys)
Ages 5-12 - Accepting open enrollment.  Class focuses on the OTEA accompanied with the toere and pahu drums and APARIMA accompanied with the Tahitian ukulele and guitar which is best suited for this age group.

 

 

Tane (Men)

Ages 13+.  Accepting open enrollment.  Class focuses on the OTEA accompanied with the toere and pahu drums and APARIMA accompanied with the Tahitian ukulele and guitar which is best suited for this age group.

 

 

Drumming and Ukulele

 No classes scheduled at this time.  Accepting open enrollment.

'Ori Workout

Ages 7+.  Must complete tahitian workshop.  This class is designed as a "work out" class with focus on Basic Tahitian dance steps and technique.
